Sorry if this is a common question but I have been feeling unwell recently and after frequent visits to the doctors I had a blood test this week and the results came back saying I have high levels of HbA1C? They told me over the phone nothing urgent and the doctor would like to see me. Is this common?

Do you know what the figure was for your HbA1C? HbA1C is a way to measure the glucose in your blood over the last few weeks. If it's high, it suggests your blood sugar has been higher than desired.
Did the surgery say anything about diabetes?

It's becoming more common by the minute. High levels of Hba1c means that the amount of sugar in your blood is higher than desired and has been that way for some time. Essentially it means you are probably diabetic but you don't have the actual numbers and anyway only your doctor is allowed to diagnose you.
Many people have this condition so you have no need to panic and as they say there is nothing urgent about it although it is a very good idea to see what you can do to bring high sugar levels down because they are harmful over a period of time.
