I do not have diabetes
My Father and Sister both have diabetes, I've noticed over the past few months an increase in needing to pee, and now my Sister just tested my blood sugar levels (after I just had some sweets) and it showed that my blood sugar level is 8.8 and 8.2 after washing my hands to make sure there was no sugar on them. Is it likely that I have diabetes? how likely? this can't be happening, I'm already dealing with so much in my life like chronic pain and social anxiety, I'm stressing out so much... What do I do...

8.8 are not high, a single test can’t tell much. But by this test I would say it is unlikely.

What did you eat, and how much? And how long after eating did you measure?

Hi @jacobb ,

Welcome to the forum.

One random test with a meter isn't always conclusive.

Make an apointment with your doctor.

I had a meatball sub, 2 cookies, a soda, and a packet of sour sweets. I tested only a few minutes after

Hi @jacobb those numbers after sweets are not the worst. Ask your surgery for a HbA1c test as well as a fast blood glucose test. The first will indicate if you have a numbers over a 3 month period indicative of diabetes (usually takes a couple of days for this test to come back). The second test will see if your blood sugar on the day is within boundaries (4.0 to 5.5 mmol/l is normal)

I'm guessing from your food terminology you aren't in the UK? Could you give just your nationality & age?

Well thats great, only a soda or just the packet of sweet alone would have raised you if you had diabetes. 8.8 or 8.2 after so much a pretty normal and good.

I don’t see any reasons to fair diabetes, would rather say congratz with a great reading :)

A few minutes after means absolutely nothing. Our food does not digest that quickly. The best time to test is before eating and 2 hours after first bite.

Make an appointment with your GP. None of us on here can diagnose you, and especially not on the information you have given.

I'm 24 and from Australia, I think what's had me the most stressed is the fact that over the past few months I've needed to pee a lot more than usual but in the past few days I've had a constant urge to pee, like, I will go to the toilet and still feel that urge and be able to go again and again until there's hardly anything left. I had already booked an appointment to see my GP about it for tomorrow but after seeing my blood sugar levels today I panicked

Panicking will only make matters worse. Anxiety will raise your blood glucose levels as much as any food may. Easy to say, I know, but take some deep breaths ... and remember, you may be panicking over nothing. It will be what it is and you can't change it. Good luck with the tests, and let us know how you go on. :)

I empathise why you would be concerned, Jacobb.

A proper lab test on your blood will clarify.

Good luck with the GP tomorrow. You've done the right thing booking an appointment. :)

That could be cystitis going a gain and again can be a symptom of that
