I have always had an issue with sugar in that I had a lot of problems if I had refined sugar I would end up passing out. Just a spoonful of sugar in a cup of tea would cause me to have a 'fainting fit'. I don't have a high sugar diet as I'm not keen on sugary things but crave salty things like crisps and cheese.
However, having turned 30 I have found it very hard to eat normal foods. I used to be very slim (hence my username) but struggle to be slim or even near it now.
I exercise and watch what I eat but think there is something else wrong. I've had my thyroid checked as my doctor thought I might have a goitre but while I have a lump in my neck it has been shown that I don't have any issues with my thyroid (despite certain symptoms). However, I'm just not convinced everything is ok. I don't eat sugary things, I exercise pretty well (5k running, cycling, climbing stairs, weight machines) but nothing makes a difference. I can eat a scant breakfast of something healthy (poached eggs on brown toast/omelette that feeds me all day) but I'm hungry an hour later. I can't lose any weight but have legs that look like a skinny person but a bloated stomach like a pregnant woman.
Does this sound like diabetes?
I also suffer from dry skin (not badly), irregular bowel habits and will feel lethargic after white carbs at lunchtime (who doesn't?).
Any advice would be appreciated.
