Do I need Medication?

Hello all, been diabetic for about 3 years and controlled quite well through diet and exercise.

However, started to feel quite unwell lately, weak, thirsty, bad numb spots in legs and feet, tingling.

I bought some test strips and am getting a blood sugar reading of 10 in the morning before eating and upwards of 12 two hours after food.

Is this bad? Do I need to see a dr?

Any advice appreciated.

Hello

Yes a doctors visit really soon is required here, the readings are higher than they should be. The other symptoms are symptomatic of a change in your health, not about how disciplined you are being.
You can explore with them why you think the readings are high, have you had a illness that has caused it etc and if/how you get back to being in control with or without medication.

Let us know how you do.

Thanks. I am booked in at the drs for Tuesday.

I haven't had any other illnesses recently. I think it is down to me getting back into a "comfort" eating zone as I had two years of Hba 1c's of 38 and 39 and basically forgot about diabetes.

It has given me a kick up the backside though. This really is a lifelong condition and will come back and attack with a vengeance if you let your guard down.

Back on the low carbs and exercise for me.

Sounds like you know what you are doing so be kind and patient and do it wisely
