a medical ID card or have I been sucked into a world of paranoia (he says as he looks over his shoulder).
Just over a month ago I was quite happily trundling along in life and happily abusing my body (with chocolate and bacon butties, before you smutty ones at the back make up your own jokes). Since then I've seen doctors, nurses and more doctors and more nurses and now stab myself in the finger between 3 & 4 times a day.
I've altered my diet and now read labels (much to the shock of family, friends and work colleagues) I'm making changes which I would have never believed I would do. All of which has come about from reading up on the fourms and some medical advice. I say some as my GP's diabetic nurse is quite helpful but the staff at the local specialist clinic seem a bit more interested in costs and don't advocate a type 2er self testing.
So I get my own monitor courtesy of the manufacturer, my gp's DN is happy to prescribe strips and so off I go with the self stabbing. My highest reading has been 22 and my lowest was yesterday at 4.7 so no hypo but as my levels now seem to be lowering I guess I need to keep a closer eye just in case.
Now before I was diagnosed I didn't feel particularly unwell just thirstier than a thirsty thing from thirsty town. After reading up and finding out about the various complications has me concerned and so I'm following all advice at the minute. So on to my orignal question do I need a medicard or bracelet etc. or I am just being a wuss and need to get a grip.
Gawd I can waffle when I get going.
