Yes; I normally have breakfast first thing. During the week, I have a cup of coffee and either a boiled egg with a bit of toasted Burgen Soya and Linseed, or a small-ish bowl of porridge made with 25g of oats, water and a bit of Xylotol sweetener - try as I might, I can't handle unsweetened porridge, particularly when there's no milk in it. Both the porridge and the egg/toast combo push my levels up by about 1.5 mmol/l, so they're within acceptable bounds and they're easy to prepare and eat at 7.00 am.
At the weekends we're not up so early and I usually have the time, and the appetite for something more ambitious - smoked salmon with scrambled eggs, kedgeree, made with cauliflower rather than rice (surprisingly good), continental style cold meats and so forth. Above all, I have a caffetiere of proper coffee - one of the few vices remaining to me
. Sometimes I'll just have some coffee when I get up and we then have a brunch-type fry-up late morning. Mrs hay-char is from Ulster, so it's a proper "Ulster Fry" albeit without fried bread, potato bread and the like....
As I mentioned on another thread, I would kill for a bit of toast with lashings of marmalade but that's spike-on-a-plate
