My hobby is jewellery making. To be exact beading. I absolutely love it, to the extent that our spare room has been turned into a work room and is filled with beads of all shapes and sizes and everything needed to make whatever takes my fancy at the time. I really love making wedding jewellery, tiara' s with matching necklaces, earrings and bracelets. My next item I want to learn how to make is brooch bouquets. I'm scouring charity shops and car boot sales for brooches to practise with.
This passion of mine keeps me sane as I have a very demanding and often stressful job. Beading is so De-stressing and I get such
a sense of achievement when I see what I have made out of a small pile of beads.
Does anyone else have a sanity saving hobby/passion?

My friend hand makes cards .
All and every kind of cards there is to make .
She makes a batch load of various cards .
Then we take them to the diabetes clinics/hospitals
Where people can buy them for little as 50p or 99p .
All funds raised go into the hospitals Neonatal unit .

She says the same - it calms her and keeps her focused when
stressed or at a wandering loose end mentally .

She let me make 2 (two) yesterday .
A valentine one for my hubby and a happy birthday one for my mum .
I loved doing them - helped me forget everything and anything !
Whilst completely absorbed in making them .
Was so proud of them too - when had finished them .
It was my first time ever - making them .
Would love to make some more too :joyful::D

Yep, railway modelling.

Isn't it great when you finish something that looks really nice and you think "I made that"
My sister makes cards and they are stunning. I would love to open a little bead shop with card making supplies. We could both do workshops in our own speciality

It is indeed - took another look at them today
Chuffed to bits with them and myself 'still' :D

What a brilliant idea to do ... Open a little shop between you both
Sharing a shop with her - both of you doing each your own
speciality things .
The work shops will be a neat idea to set up and you can
charge accordingly .
Company for each other and share the workload between you both .
A brilliant no brainer of an idea

You should really look into this one - it is perfect idea for you both .
I love it actually :D:joyful:

Ahh hello fellow beadaholic :D
Woohoo always glad to meet a fellow beader. Do you have any particularly favourite style of beading?

Yes it's a lovely dream but don't know if I would ever have the courage to do it.we live over 30 miles apart so she would only come a couple times a month to do a workshop. It's also an extremely competitive business. My friend runs a bead shop only 10 miles away and she is really struggling to keep afloat. Perhaps a market stall.........

Cool
Market stalls are far cheaper than a shop with all its running costs .
Hopefully a nice busy indoor market location ?
Cards are a great seasonal seller and your beads too .

Yes they are. I keep eyeing a stall in our market in town. A nice indoor one with shutters so I could leave it set up. Trouble is someone already has it, inconsiderate devil. Plus work gets in the way, ah well one day............

Bead weaving, although I do bead embroidery and silversmithing and lampworking ...... etc etc
Slightly obsessed is all ;)
I would love to do metalworking and silversmithing, I think our local college offers courses in polymer clay but don't know if they offer anything else

Can you not leave your details with the market manager ?
(my town has an indoor market manager)
If one was to become available ?
The manager could contact you 'first' ?
Give you first option or chance to view this .

I'm sure I could, I think I might just do that:D

Thanks x As I said, just ever so slightly obsessed :D Not that I've got more seed beads than the local miyuki stockist or the swarovski store :hilarious: or anything like that.
I shudder to think how many you used on that creation. Was it your own design? I have no imagination and have to rely on patterns. I love Sabine lippert. I think I've done almost every design in her book. I would love to do something like you have. I love the bead fares as very often the vendors have some magnificent exhibits on display

I know that I treading on thin ground here as I don't believe it's a hobby.

My passion, my sin, my love, except obviously my loving family is football.

Since playing as a kid to an adult! Watching professional football live (and on telly) for the past 50 years (and more). I have been coaching for nearly 20 years. I have been following my local club and I hardly ever miss a home game. My son's and grandkids all join me on match days.

It is now my only sin! I don't drink, don't smoke and have to have something to do or I'd probably end up in trouble!

I know that this thread is for something more sedate but it is my passion and also th ed best game in the world! No matter what anyone says!!
