Doc refuses to prescribe test strips - not happy

Just seen the doc following posts on here regarding carbs and to test to see what I can tolerate so I can get my blood sugar down and manage it better, but they are refusing to prescribe them saying it's not how it works.

Well I don't understand this, it doesn't make sense, I'm trying to get it under control but how will I know what carbs are causing me issue if I can't test my tolerance, this is nuts.

Buying them is so expensive £21+ for 50, testing just 3 times a day means I'll need to buy 2 lots a month, can't afford this.

I don't want another high hba1c cause I'm not managing properly. Am I wrong, am I being over dramatic about this?

Unfortunately the NHS don't generally prescribe meters and test strips for T2's. Their silly policy is that you don't need to test.

Look on ebay for your strips - which meter are you using??? I think the codefree has the cheapest strips.
 
Thanks, I've got the accu chek aviv a nano. It has the plastic code thing in so you don't need to code it. I bought the machine, strips and sharps myself.
It just doesn't make sense. Maybe I'll buy what I can and do my testing and find out what I can eat and how much then leave it.

Order sd codefree, we all use that.
I order 250 strips of those for about 30 pounds.

As others have already stated, Codefree is the name of the meter.
