you are doing very well...while you are dieting is the time to workout what you are going to eat for the rest of your life
you can eat LCHF for the rest of your life and you need to stay below your trigger point with carbs that will start putting back on weight

In the long term definitely intend to eat more nuts, substitute more olive oil in my cooking, higher proportions of meat and fish compared to rice and potatoes and lower portion sizes. I have been a lifelong fan of whole foods (wholewheat bread, oatmeal, unsweetened mueslu) but will be eating less bread and cereals. I typically eat more of my 5-a-day than the rest of the family and I don't eat a lot of chocolate or sweets - or even puddings/desserts; these tend to be more at social events rather than at home. I will probably reduce the amount of fruit I eat based on counting the carbs, unless my insulin resistance returns to normal.
What probably got me into the situation I find myself is a combination of not enough exercise and large portion sizes, rather than a bad diet. I do find it relatively easy to lose weight so I will be weighing myself more regularly and responding to any weight increases above my target which now looks like around 11 stone and a BMI of under 22.
