Docs can't tell if diabetic or not

Tests so far:

- 5 random skin prick samples, all of which are in the normal range.

- Fasting sample, also clear

- "Borderline" urine results but docs refuse to tell me what this means.

Symptoms come and go especially after sugary foods and include:

- Frequent clear urinating even without much to drink
- Tired
- Short of breath
- Restless, can't sleep

I'm hoping to get a HBA1C test soon, but I'm seriously doubting it will show much as it is an average. I've had symptoms for the last 2 days on and off, but I've had strings of days without symptoms which I think will bring the average down.

My docs are very fond of shooing me out the door as just an anxious person, but I can't change GP unfortunately. Also since when did anxiety cause clear urine?

I'm a hypochondriac by nature and begging it isn't diabetes on top of everything else in my life, but extremely confused on how to prove or disprove it.

Anxiety can cause restless sleep, which will result in you being tired. You said you have had normal range finger pricks, but you haven't said what they were or when they were taken (Fasted? Post meal?) and I don't know what an average hba1c level means? Do you know what it was last time?

Apart from that, you just haven't given much info to go on. Try to get a copy of your results.

Sorry for the confusion! I don't have all my exact skin prick results right now but they all fall into the 4 range, including when fasting (4.7mmol/L). The most recent was 4.8 but I'd had very bad symptoms beforehand and waited 5 hours (!) for help to arrive. They were too late by the time they pricked my finger.

I have yet to have a HBA1C yet, but I hear its an average of blood sugar over 3 months, and I haven't had consistent symptoms in that time, so I'm worried it will miss the diagnosis. Due to the anxiety stigma I've been fighting against for 15 years, if it comes back clear the local docs will likely just ignore my problematic symptoms and stick me on even more anxiety meds - even after 11 of them they haven't got the hint yet xD

Doesn't sound much like diabetes, to be honest. Normal range is 4 to 7.

That could be caused by a number of things, not just diabetes. Not saying you definitely don't have diabetes, I'm not a doctor, but there are many illnesses out there, not just diabetes.

I'd suggest you ask for your results, in particular the "borderline" urine result.

4.7 is perfect.... many people on here who are diabetic who'd love to have that as a fasting level.

Nothing in that list would hint diabetes to me.
Would have expected colour in urine but that's more commonly used as a hydration/dehydration indicator, though there was one boy in this forum that believed there was a link between colour and BG.
Tired: could be anything
Short of breath: not something I heard linked to DB
Sleep: sounds like stress to me.

Hi,
I have exactly same issue. My issue happens episodically and urine is clear that time and lots of volume. Do you have same issue
