My then new GP apparantly changed me from type 1 ( in my 28th year) to late onset type 2 !! The practice diabetes nurse informed me, when at my yearly appointment she kept saying I was type 2 ( it was on the screen) I said you have me mixed up with someone else, but no, it was my records.. To cut a long story short, DSN said my new GP knows all about diabetes and type 1 only happens in children and teens ! 
The hospital diabetes team told me to take no notice, as I am type 1.
