so this is it!

today i am going to my GP to discuss my results... I am looking forward to know what the issue with my liver is. Also i am dreading him saying....well time to get on insulin gal!!!

i am going armed with my BG diary - so at least he can see that they have been falling. i am a bit apprehensive! i never do well at doctors/dentists/hospitals etc...i will try hard not to cry...usually that what happens :( i am such a wuss....

anywhoooooo.... i ll update you after i come back and see what the verdict is!! oh i have never seen this doctor and i have it on good authority that he is a cutie :) that is something to look forward to

Good luck Claymic :)

Good luck Claymic.

I know what you mean about hospitals though. I have been back and to more so the last 12 yrs and even after all that time I still get the lurch in the stomach and the dreading feeling. Be brave and look forward to a cuppa afterwards.

Hope you get on OK

Lucy.

ok...back from the doctor's...and it was not too bad...

first - doctor was not my kind of cute!

now for the serious stuff....

1) he is stopping the Ezetimibe which is one of the cholesterol pills as my total cholesterol is 3.1

2) the enzime that is high in my liver is not one that is affected by statins. He said that he suspects its fat in the liver. So i am going to be sent for a liver scan.....i hope its nothing too traumatic. I am not too worried about it to be honest as he did not look very worried.

3) he said that my last test was awful - well i knew that! but he had a look at my BG diary and said that readings look much better so he wants me to repeat the bloodwork in a couple of months. he said if hba1c would have come down, they can still deal with me at the surgery - but if it is high i ll have to be referred back to hospital.

Couple of observations:

when i told him that i have been restricing my carbohydrates he went...oh that's good :)
when i mentioned that last year my hba1c was 7.2 - he was like...yes that was a good number :problem:

anyway...all in all i am not too upset or anything..... i am more determined to sort it out. only glitch is my parents are visiting me end of May for 2 weeks....i am going to have to be really good - but i have a few weeks to prepare myself for it!!

Sorry Clay, just seen your post. Your GP was pleased you dropped carbs - amazing! Well done for having the courage to tell him. Your mind must be a little more at peace about insulin, your heading away from it rather than to it, well done you! You're doing so well, your cholesterol levels are showing that, so one less medication required. I will keep my fingers and toes crossed for the liver scan, and the results. I have never had one, so can't advise what to expect.

I think all in all you deserve a huge            Well done!!

Well that is great news ! I didn't think it could be as bad as you were expecting. What a relief for yoou! I know you are not out of the woods yet but hings are looking up.

Regarding Drs and carbs , before I knew anyhing about lowcarbing and my medication was causing me to lose weigh, a doctor told me to "ea meat and eggs" but woldn't elaborate. When I menioned to the consultant at the Diabetes clinic whom I met just once, I told him I was reducing cabs and he was delighed!

I think Drs do know this but many Nurses just toe the line. It is therefore easier for many pracices to leave the "Dirty Work " to he Nurses.

Thanks guys....I am quite chuffed..... and i feel like experimenting more with food too... i am going to try and bake a low carb cake or muffin...cause it is my bday in a few weeks time and I think i will deserve something good :P

i would love for my fasting to get in the single figures now....i am determined my hba1c will have a big drop!! i got over 2 months - definitely achievable!!

Thanks for all the support ....you lot are great :)

I never saw this!

Your appointment sounds very positive. I think you will see those single figures. You are giving the nasty D word a run for it glucose.

As for the scan. Good luck :D

That sounds like a really positive appointment and you have a GP who appreciates carb counting - has to be good :)

I have an appointment with a dietician on Monday....that might be a different session. i will go armed with my food diary for the last two weeks. i am thinking probably she will NOT be pleased about low carbing....oh well :P

Best of luck Clay! We will get there...I am determined that this Diabetes is not going to control me, I will control it!!
