Does an epidural and surgery affect BG levels?

I had knee surgery last Friday and I was wondering if the epidural they used would affect the production of BG?

Hi,

Any surgery is likely to affect your blood sugars. You may not have noticed that you were stressed at the time and the epidural may have contained steroids. Stress and steroids equals a higher blood sugar.

I broke out into an uncontrollable sweat hot flush about 2 hours after the op so I guess that would be the stress coming out,
