Yes, they are well adapted to diets of almost all animal derived food, no refined carbs, and very little of carbs from plants. Where I live the locals lived primarily off of bison for thousands of years and the western explorers that first encountered them noted how tall and vigorous they were. I suspect the rates of type 2 diabetes before western foods were introduced were negligible (although I have no reference to back that up). Now it is estimated that 80% of First Nation people here in Alberta will get type 2 diabetes during their life time. Unfortunately, any of them that want to eat healthy are told to follow a low fat, high carb diet, just like everyone is told.Once they have abandoned their traditional way of eating for Macdonalds and Coke you mean...
