Does anybody use the MySugr App, how accurate is it? (Screenshots inside)

I test once in the morning, 2-3 hours after meal, and after gym. So about 3-4 test a day.

Attached are a few screenshots showing todays, 2 week, a month and quarter estimates. I don't know how accurate these are, and I guess my next HBA1C will tell.

My results have been of the similar as they are today

My first result recording was when I left hospital, around 19th Feb. My numbers were in the highs of 8-9, waking up with 6.2 for example. I am trying to figure out how to post the full PDF, or I may jus wait to see and compare after my HBA1C
 
You cannot expect that app to be accurate unless you enter several tests a day, before and after meals, particularly after meals - at an hour, 90 minutes, 2 hours. All it is doing is averaging the numbers you enter. You need plenty of post meal entries taken when you are likely to be at your peaks..
 

I understand. I think I’ll carry on recording then compare real hba1c results
 
I have used MySugr since a couple of months after diagnosis so throughout 5 lab HbA1c results. For those results the predicted HbA1c has always been less than the lab result by between 0.1 and 3.8, I was using an SD Code Free for those 5 results and was testing 6 - 8 times per day. I have an HbA1c coming up tomorrow but before Xmas I changed to a CareSens Dual and have been testing only 4 or 5 times a day, so it’ll be interesting to see what the difference is this time. I don’t rely on the estimated HbA1c but it is useful for seeing if it’s trending up or down.
 
How often do you get your A1C? I got this meter from a friend, and I get a pack of strips every month. I really can't wait for my A1C in mid Juneish

I am supposed to be six monthly and I think that’s what I’ll be having going forward, I had a few extra ones for various reasons. They are all listed in my signature here.

The normal time range for a hba1c is three months, then going to six months in Australia. This is what I am on, although I asked to go back on to three months testing till I get off the final Metformin 1 x 500 tablet in June.

Three months is the minimum when bulk billing is involved with the test.

I don't claim to be a great maffmagician....

It may all hinge on how accurate your meter is for starters? I also test upto 10-12 times a day. Even though I occasionally use a Libre..
However, I use an Accu-Check Mobile meter that gets checked when possible against a calibrated NHS "standard issue" device when ever they use theirs on me. I take a second with mine.. Mine reads 15% higher.. Not exactly done in a lab with too many "variables," I know..
So then I log them on a Diaconnect app. (Simply because it works across two different OS with an Android phone & an IPad?
The A1c calculation romps in 15% higher than the lab result too...

This is where it gets interesting regarding your specific query? Regarding the MySugr app you use.

I also have this app on my Android phone (Galaxy A3.) which hasn't been used in a while due to my preference to the aformentioned Diaconnect app, I have a Bluetooth adaptor on my meter which I can send all the data to the MySugr app. (Which only works with MySugr.)
MySugr has interestingly calculated the same data from the meter approximately 3.5% lower than the Diaconnect app. Basically taking the same data & giving a different answer...

My observations may help or mix it up further..

Personally, I would structure more daily tests than you currently do. & compare the app result to a couple of A1c lab results back from the doc first?
 
I find mySugr app estimated Hba1c is higher than the lab results, well so far anyway. My meter may well read a bit high (which I like) but the last two Hba1c results have been around 4-5 less than the estimate. I test around 8 times a day.
 
I only use it to track my finger prick glucose monitoring and don’t place any faith in the HbA1c predictor. I’ve been testing and logging less than two weeks and it’s already suggesting my HbA1c might be down to 36.1/5.5 from my diagnosis level of 81/9.3 which can only be utter nonsense. I know it stresses it’s not accurate but I feel it’s setting people up for false hope. If there’s a setting to not display it at all I’ll probably switch it on, LOL.
 
I will check my HBA1C and compare and report back accuracy.
 
I think it’s only got a hope of being accurate if you’re inputting a fair representation of your highs and lows in a fair proportion. So if you only enter two figures a day that’s not very representative, nor would only entering fasting and preprandial readings as you’d not be giving it any of your higher post prandial readings. GIGO still applies. Ultimately if yours doing a fair number of readings across all your levels then maybe it’s ok.

That said if you always enter the same set of figures whatever they are you’ll still see the trend up down or stable.
