Ive been a type 1 diabetice for some 25 years and have been a member of Diabetes for some time, but havnt known how to use this site and ask questions. Ive been on Humalog Mix 25 for about six months or so, and my blood sugar tests are really volatile.

Does anyone else have trouble with this insulin??

I've never used a premixed insulin before, but what insulin and insulin regime where you on before going onto the premix?

I'm making assumptions here... That you are injecting twice a day, and eating carbohydrates at selected times and amounts following the principles of the old fashioned regimes, that insulin dose and carb amount were prescribed..

Are you sure that the insulin profile is matching your carb intake profile?

And big question here...

How come they've put you on a premix, when for most people the multi daily injection (basal/bolus) regime give so much more flexibility in control?

Hi there
Thanks very much for your reply to my question regarding Humalog Mix 25.

Previously I was on - think it was Humalog(quick acting) and Lantus (long acting evening one).
Im not eating carbs at selected times and amounts, (not heard of that one).

The multi daily injection that gives so much more flexibility sounds good to me, but not sure just how it works !!

My blood sugar tests are extremely volatile, I know they are, but am booked in to attend a very well thought of Diabetes Centre in Leeds so am just waiting for that to come up, it is in 4 weeks time and it cant come soon enough !!!
