Does anyone get this?

There seems little hard research data on this. I hope you are taking comfort from posts above. High blood sugars send my husband away and replace him with an evil, hard, nasty man. Before diagnosis, and early after, we were coming to divorce. DAFNE changed things. Even now, when hyper ,our daughter can recognise the mood change and make a good guess at what his bs will be....so its not me causing the mood change. Take advice and see someone

Hi @james122, how are you feeling today? I have had suicidal thoughts before, however I don't know whether it has been due to blood sugars or depression. I have also had the fleeting thought when frustrated with my diabetes (sort of "what's the point?"). However, suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. All situations are temporary and WILL get better (please believe this). I am on anti-depressants and have been doing CBT (cognitive behaviour therapy) since my last period of dark thoughts. CBT helps change the way you think about things, and I'm surprised at how well it has worked for me. When you are at the edge and feel like there's no other way to go, you are willing to try anything.

I agree with the above posts, in that your diabetes team will be able to help you. I would also suggest visiting your GP to be referred to your mental health team - I realise this might not be applicable, but if there is an underlying depression (or health condition), they will be able to provide support and put you in touch with those who can help further.

I hope you're feeling better today, and wish you all the best. Happy to chat with you privately, if you would like. Take care x x

If you are so low you have suicidal thoughts your Doc is the person to talk to. Speaking from experience when my partner was very very low the NHS served him very well. Don't be afraid to ask for help.

When you blood sugars are out of control for no reason do feel suicidal?
No, but it does **** me off a bit. There's always a reason why blood sugars go off on a tangent, you just can't control everything your body reacts to.
