Prediabetes Does blood sugar go up at beginning?

I am now in my 4th week of low carb. Around 50-70g of carb. During my first 2 weeks my fasting blood was usually between 6.0-6.5 and now over the last week and a half it is usually 7.0-7.5.

Is it usual for it to go up before it comes down? I don’t think it can be the dawn phenomenon because that would have applied in the first week too? I realise that this could be because fasting blood can be the last to come down but would it go up first?!

On the whole a feel like my body has now adapted to eating like this and I like it and have lost 10 pounds.

Has this happened to anyone else? with maybe good results in the long run?

Dawn Phenomena is normal. Where it differs for those of us with T2 or Pre D is that the liver splurges too much for too long.

Bg can rise for a number of reasons, poor sleep, stress or infection, for women it can be affected by the time of the month or peri menopause etc etc.

I find my morning reading are higher if I’ve eaten late or snacked in the evening. If I eat early with the kids at 5.30 they are lower than if I’ve had a few nuts with my glass of wine at 9pm. The more you test, the more you may see a pattern. My FBG have been exceptionally low this week (4s) but that’s because I’ve been skipping dinner. This morning it was 6.1 but although I missed dinner last night, I did have some snacks late (meat and 5 nuts).

I thought my snack of nuts and square of choco at 9pm May have been the course too but saw no difference when I didn’t have one. However, If I fast for a day they are always a bit lower though. I think I need to give it time and hope my HB1 test is lower overall in 3 months time. Thanks
