I'm thinking of taking a supplement for another medical condition but one of the ingredients is glucosamine. I know this isn't recommended for diabetics, so I was wondering if anybody has any experience of taking it, and how it effects bg levels?

Thanks :D

I've taken a glucosamine/chondroitin supplement for years - originally to help with tennis elbow. I do get a bit of joint pain if I stop taking it.

So far as I know it has no effect on diabetes - my control is good.

i take glucosamine and rose hip for oesteo arthritis i have no spikes from them.

Thanks for the replies everyone, looks like it will be like everything else, give it a go and test to see how it's effecting my bg.

Patch,

That was an interesting link it seemed to suggest that glucosamine was lowering bg, which seems counterintuitive for something that's called GLUCOSamine.

I'll give it a go though and see what happens.
