I am type 2 diabetic on insulin. My control was good until mid September when I was put on Amitriptyline tabs 10mg, now I find that my readings have gone high.
Does this tablet increase sugar.

Does the patient information mention that it might effect bg levels? If your in pain then this alone can result in higher bg levels as the body is stressed.

Hi. I'm also type 2 diagnosed 4 weeks ago. I've been on 50mg of amitriptyline each night for past 5 years for ibs. I did query the same thing with my gp as it states can cause high bg results. He dismissed it totally. My morning readings have now gone down to 6 or under and my daytime readings range from 4.9 to 7 depending on what I've eaten. (Lchf diet early days) So no I don't think amitriptyline affects it. I had problems with my bg for past 30 years (25 yrs before amitriptyline) during pregnancies and few other stressful times. Was always checked a few times then it went away???. Many members of my family suffer from it too so it's in the genes. 10mg and even 50mg is a very low dose.
