Does taking insulin contribute to insulin resistance?

Perhaps put hyperinsulinaemia into google?

on getting an injection of insulin, will say, "oh goody, I can doze off for a while".
Sally

Well this happens similarly with many things...Opiates for example, or steroids.

You're saying that for a given amount of carbs taken in the pancreas will release the same amount of insulin whether or not external insulin is taken?

Seems logical to me that the pancreas wouldn't release as much, or perhaps "none" at all, if there was already external insulin there pushing/having pushed blood sugar down. I may be mistaken, just makes sense to me...

Perhaps put hyperinsulinaemia into google?
Thank you :)

RE: study to prove high insulin causes insulin resistance.

I have definitely read an study where students were subjected to insulin injections ( essentially a clamp ) and insulin resistance was determined after a period ( hours / days not sure ) . If i can find it i will post a link.

Also, patients with insulinoma ( tumor of the pancreas) will always have high insulin resistance. As that's how the body protects itself from high levels of insulin.
