It is most likely your choice of breakfast causing this. High blood sugars and also big swings up and then down again can cause sleepiness and fatigue. All cereals are high carb (you can check this yourself by looking for total carbohydrate on the box) plus skimmed milk has carbs. You really cannot rely on Metformin alone. The help it gives is minimal. Diet is the key. You may have been 9.6mmol/l when you checked, but what were you before you fell asleep - and what might you have been during sleep?

Are you checking all your meals before and 2 hours later, keeping records alongside a food diary? What sort of levels do you see? Have you noticed any patterns?

Do not eat that rubbish for breakfast .... it will cause you grief. Metformin will do nothing to help, but diet change will

It would be a good plan to reduce the foods causing you to reach 8 (from 5.5) after meals. The Bran Flakes with milk could be a good start! Try eggs cooked any which way, maybe a cheese omelette, or bacon and eggs, or cold meats, or cheese.

You know all those foods that we were led to believe were bad for us? Bacon, Eggs, Cheese... eat them for breakfast instead, altogether if you wish!
Kelloggs was very successful in manufacturing cheap ingredients at premium prices. It's all grain, sugar, and salt. They brag about it being fortified with vitamins, but the rest of the over-processed stuff in it negates any benefits.

Probably high BG caused that feels for u, but just information, its good to take an allergy test anyway if u feel sleepy or something after meals. Lactose allergy eg. can cause sleepiness too. But anyway, for ur BG to not rise that much keep a good diet ! Hope everyones having a good day !:)

Its strange theres high ketones if ur BG is usually around 5.5-8, thats normal... Should go to a check up maybe.

I fall asleep sometimes after eating. But I did not associates this phenomena with type 2. I fall in to a deep sleep but is up in a few minutes.
