So I'm doing pretty well on my low carb diet I've been on for the last week, but my energy is generally pretty low. I'm staying away from all wheat products, potatoes, rice etc. Maxing out on veggies and a bit of fruit and meat, also trying to get some fat in there.

Will this energy crisis pass as I acclimate to the new diet or do I need to add in some more carbs??

My body actually feels great, so much so that I'm kind of stunned, the energy thing is the only issue.

There can be problems with electrolytes in the early days of dropping carbs as we shed a lot of fluid - something like drinking bone broth or bouillon is usually recommended. Also get used to adding salt to your food as your consumption will drop dramatically as a result of cutting out processed food - it might be your body protesting the sudden lack.

You might not be aiming for nutritional ketosis, but the advice on lowering carbs in this video may help you:

Hang in there, it does take time to get used to a new way of eating. You should feel more energised soon.

All good advice above. Drink lots of water. Avoid strenuous exercise for a few weeks. Your body is going through carboholic withdrawals. :)

carbaholic withdrawals there is so much going on with the body when we start to alter our diets
