doing my first ever proper run...gulp!

Well done with your first run/race.

Just out of interest how were your levels while running?

Hi, I'm type 2 and run bgs between 3.1 and 10 there's no rhyme or reason, some days high some low if exercise or not, I've given up worrying, I've changed everything I eat low carb avg 30g and obviously by this post I'm exercising I'm on 2g metformin by day and sposed to be taking statins and Bp meds both of which I've stopped so nothing much else I can do, wow sorry your little question turned into this , sorry :)

And thanks :) I feel amazing about the run and I'm doing another Saturday London marathon 2014 here I come

That's ok just curious as to how running affected someone else, as being a type1 not sure how everyone coped.
The only other diabetic I've run with is my brother and I don't understand how he controls his during exercise.

Sounds like your getting the running bug as London 2014 is a good target, hope you get a place, not sure if I can wait till October to find out if I'm in or going for a charity place.

Anyone can run, these loads of free 5k park runs organised every sat (park run uk to find your local one). But most of the other races you have to sign up for and pay a small fee.
With entry to london they run a ballet for the first 250K people to sign up the day after its run, this year it closed at about half 11, but there should be charity places available.
I believe all the big races are balleted due to the intrest in running them.

wow I am shocked  I figured as there is sooooo many runners anyone could do it, thanks for the info

I went back to the park where I did the parkrun Saturday and did it again today I was determined to do the 5k under 30 mins, I did it in 30.50 on sat but I only managed 30.25 today, I am surprised how hard it is to get the time down but Saturday is another day and hopefully a little cooler :) and hopefully that Labrador wont try and eat me lol

You've already knocked 25 seconds off, that's good! You'll have it under 30 minutes in no time

Knocking any time off your PB is always a good feeling!
I'm surprised that not more people run with dogs/buggies, i seem to be the only one at my 5K, yet i know of a few others that have young kids/dogs and don't bring them. But that's probably another question for another forum.

Best bit of advice i've been given was to ignore your time and just run to how you feel.

I run with my dog and my sister runs with her buggy. She has a special one for it. My nephew laughs the whole time apparently!

My little girl laughs aswell, then falls asleep on the way home. I just stick to a normal buggy as some of the fancy running ones are just way to expensive for me to only run everyother week with her! plus i don't get on with the suspension some of them have, and they don't suit the course i run.

They are pricey, but she runs everyday so it's worth it for them. She's got another one on the way now though so that'll have to go out the window since its not a double buggy!

A fella was running next to me with a double buggie with the kids moaning at him to catch up to mummy lol I did ask him if I could jump on but he said no ill jump on you push lol
