just came back from doctors had more bloods done,
fasting =normal
abac1 = slightly elevated
blood pressure elevated
cholesterol elevated
these are doc words, i was told that the only one that really matters is the fasting bg, so what i,ve took from that is even if bg are going through the roof as long as fbg is near normal dont worry, what a load of rubbish, thank god for this forum because without it we would all be worse off. he said no need to test regulary no benefit in it. well as i pay for them myself i will test whenever i need to. he said that a ogtt would be helpful but did,ent know who would do it as he is only a locom. could i sort it out myself. about the cholesterol he asked me what i would like to do about as i take 40mg simvastin to increase it or change to another tablet, by this time i,ve had enough and just leave things as they are. then as i was leaving he asked if i had any questions answer NO he then told me to keep doing what i,m doing because we dont want you becoming diabetic. what a joke

that sounds a bit like my GP. i really honestly dont think they have a clue. 10 yrs ago i developed necrobiosis lipoidica and was told by the skin specialist that i should be tested for diabetes. the doc refused and it wasnt until i sprained my foot 5yrs ago that i was tested and diagnosed. they wouldnt give me test strips until i was put on gliclazide a year ago. its a flaming joke isnt it?

i know and he was a young man so its not as if he had old ideas so i guess the teaching still in the dark ages. i have a rash on my upper arm it flares up becomes really red but not itchy it then seems to die down but still visible beneath the skin but it the skin then starts to peel doc say they dont know what it is so another mystery. so will just have to heal myself

i was a medical mystery (still am :lol: ) when i started with the old necrobiosis. i was treated for eczema, psoriasis n something else i cant remember. then i had a biopsy and was told iam rare (?!?) and theres no cure and could every surgeon in west yorks come n have a prod at my legs? i said nope, ****** off. im not a circus freak. :lol: i bloody hate docs. i know they do some good but mines pants. iv worked in close proximity to the medical proffesion for a number of yrs and i dont believe a word of what my doc says. mind you, he's tried his best to do me in on more than one occassion. nevermind eh? i reckon you just need to stick to your guns, thats what i do now.

I have no faith in doctors at all, not GPs anyway. My partner has been Sick for three years and all they do is give him different pills. He has had to go private now. Don't hold out much hope though. Doctor said to me your prediabetic didn't tell me what to do apart from go on a diabetic diet.

sorry to hear about your partners troubles and hope things get better, i know exactly what you mean about being left to get on with it
i felt like he was saying your fbg ok so you dont have to worry about the rest of reading being high. i said to him that although they started quite good throughout the day they get higher at bedtime is the highest reading but i will keep working on it just glad this forum is here and all you great people
