Re: Don't you hate it when you see a new Dr? and they think
I never enjoy a trip to my GP or Diabetes consultant! My consultant changes everytime I go, and each is about as useless as the last. I normally get "so what insulin do you take at b'fast/lunch/dinner" and when I mention that it changes each time depending on what I eat etc, the consultant normally looks confused! My favourite question is, "so when did you last go hypo?" As I try to maintain my sugars at 6-8, they often drop to sub 4, but that to me is just a sign that it's time to eat.
My GP was the best though, two visits ago he asked me to complete a 'depression questionnaire' (I was there for back pain). I was aware that I've been feeling low, but never to the extent of needing professional help. He read the answers on the paper and then said nothing more about it. At my last visit, for a completely unrelated matter, out of the blue he just said "so, are you still feeling "depressed" " said with a shrug and in a tone that made it sound like an imaginary illness. I could have ripped his head off! He made me feel that even if I did feel depressed, I would not have told him anyway.
Rant over :x
