Dosage upped

Hi all,

After your experiences.

I have been for my first check up since diagnosis 3mths ago. Have been taking one 500mg metformin with brekkie.

Pleased to say I have gone from bs level 7 to 6,5

I thought my dosage may stay the same for another 3 mths but doc has upped my dosage to go with 2 x 500mg this week and then to 3 the week after If side effects are OK.

Does this sound normal to any of you out there or with similar experiences?

I started on two 500mg then three months later increased to four 500mg a day so I think it is fairly normal - I think the blood tests every three months are to monitor the blood sugar levels until such time as they are in the good zone and being maintained, although I have yet to get to that point, I am sure other people might be better qualified to give you answers.

Well done to getting them down in the first place.

Hi. Yes, that's perfectly normal and good to hear your blood sugar has come down a bit.
