Hi,

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed that if they have eaten a high carb meal (pizza, white bread, cream eggs etc..), blood sugars start to rise, drop for a short time and start rising again (double dipping).

I presume initially the pancreas is producing insulin, then as the pancreas runs out of steam and stops producing insulin the blood sugars carry on upwards, any thoughts/alternative theories would be appreciated.

I would imagine it could be down to different rates of metabolism of foods.
If you had a creme egg preceded by brown rice and lentils, you might get an initial spike from the creme egg that might drop a bit before the brown rice and lentils were metabolised an hour or two later.
This is not intended to be an endorsement of Creme Eggs.

Looks very much like a standard response to eating a meal that was composed of very high GI/GL foods alone and the bodies natural OVERCOMPENSATION using Insulin to stabilising the very high Blood/Glucose levels. This can often be worsened by physical exercise at or shortly after eating the meal.
You might like to consider researching further information on Reactive Hypoglycaemia (There is plenty of Info here on this site) which will tell you more on this known effect and ensure that your meals where they contain HIGH carbohydrate GI/GL loading are balance with food that contain LOW GI/GL loadings.

Hi, This is a bit of a silly question but, "How do you get your readings to appear as a graph?"

Paul is using the Freestyle Libre. The other alternative is to use an app like diabetes connect or to use a spreadsheet.
