OK? & I was one of them.. My answer to a question of "what is your ideal HbA1c?" By a DSN. Was as close to non D as possible under the circumstances...
Don't get me wrong, I omit from my diet the "usual suspects," I do adopt a lower C aproach, but that is down to my personal lifestyle & what I'm working whith regarding insulin timing/working profile & such like.. (& I'm happy for a bit of "lettuce leaf banter shared twix T1s.)
I've no right as a "brother T1" to allow @kev-w 's personal regime to be scrutinised or questioned..(No probs with the ducks bro.)
My only critique is that this subject should have been brought up in another sub section.. What do you think of a move @ringi ?
LegendsI know one. He has also survived chemotherapy and probably thinks LCHF is a football team if his eating habits after a workout are anything to go by.
I don't dissagree with you. But this has moved on in a T1 perspective......I really don't think anyone has done that.. and having just re read the thread I think it is rather that @kev-w has questioned other people's regimes in a not very supportive way.

is another of his pearls I'm currently enjoyingI began to have nightmares of blowing up like a balloon.

I'd never heard of Bernstein until I came on here, then someone posted that the good dr reckoned Lantus caused cancer, and at that point I started nodding and smiling when I see him referenced.
We know of at least two cancers that are accelerated by IGF-1,” says Bernstein. “IGF-1 is associated with cancer, and now we find out that Lantus behaves like IGF-1. So what are we to conclude? I'm certainly concerned, but I have no idea of the magnitude of potential risk, if any.”
You know i think big kev might be afraid to try this... and compared to me via bmi kev you have a couple pounds on me.
I was actually afraid to try a ketonic diet like kev was DKA on diagnosis. Except i was diagnosed at 46 not a child....
ATM trial is the word.
So far its been just over a week havnt gone DKA yet and the only test for keytones 3 days into it was 0.6. If a lack of carbs is bad then i should be bed ridden... havnt had to stop work yet so maybe not an issue.
Today I actually completed a 24hr basle check never done it that long before always had to eat by the 12th hour.
For anyone else i found a pic of how glimp saw the first 24hrs it did take me by surprise...
Its more even now this pic is last week...
And im not blowing anyone's horn whether to low carb or not in the end its how i deal with my diabetes.
Public forums are places that ideas can be swapped for the better.View attachment 27284
Weetabix is my idea of torture... (not a carb issue), it’s the taste and texture of the stuff I can’t stand. Been the same with all cereals since I was a toddler - horribly squelchy stuff!
Wasn't that shredded wheat (eugh, straw bales)
Ian Botham, cricket, straw BAILS. Please try harder.Wasn't that shredded wheat (eugh, straw bales)
Groan!Ian Botham, cricket, straw BAILS. Please try harder.
Why would they think any of those things without any evidence? They wouldn't, would they. I have to say that still being alive is quite a recommendation.Like @kev-w I had never heard of him either before joining this forum, and based on what people on here seem to think of him, I can't help but think of how people would blindly think anything from Apple is awesome, how anything with [insert actor] in it is awesome, anything from [insert band/artist] is awesome, anything from my country or home town is the best, and so on and so forth. He may very well had good advice, but don't just blindly follow things because he says it.
Well that proves everything doesn't it, he's alive, unlike all the other diabetics who are also alive without his methods. Why would they think any of those things without any evidence? They wouldn't, would they. I have to say that still being alive is quite a recommendation.
