At the moment I am drinking 3~4 litres a day and to make it palatable I add some double strength no ADDED sugar squash (currently co-op brand). Is this low enough in sugars that it can be drunk with impunity or should I really try to drink pure water (couple of miles to treatment plant and Edinburgh is pretty famous for its good water so shouldn't be too unpalatable. Mind you I would still prefer squash in it .
Or will the thirst go away as I get my blood sugar down (think on the bright side) through diet and this is fairly moot?

If you turn it around, what does it say on Carbohydrates?

per 100 ml 2.0g ________ per 25ml 0.5 g (I reckon I have four~five (X25ml) of these a day)
of which sugars 2.0g_________per 25ml 0.5 g
Fat and saturates Trace.

Is 2.0~2.5 g a day a lot? (that is 4~5% of a healthy GDA).

Edited to correct a minor typo

Not in my books. Personally I wouldn't count these drinks in to your daily carb counting.

Not a problem in my books. And your thirst should diminish as your BGs reduce. Now, if that was 3 to 4 litres of Red wine,

Personally, I fell much better when I drink plain water. Give it try and see how it goes...

I don't like drinking plain water, so used to drink sparkling mineral water all the time.

I love this as it makes drinks "special" for me. I can add a bit of lemon juice if drinking socially Adding an infinitisimal amount of other fruit juices is also possible.

However, found it expensive and hard on my crumbling spine to lug six packs home from supermarket.

So, now invested in a Soda Stream machine and make a couple of bottles a day. Initial outlay high, but I'm sure I'm saving money (and my back) in long term.
