Hey all I'm looking for some info on whether I'm allowed to drive a pick up / transit van. If there is anyone on here who drives one or knows anything it would be appreciated.

Stu.

You can drive vehicles up to 3,500kg Maximum Authorised Mass (MAM) with up to 8 passenger seats (with a trailer up to 750kg).
You can also tow heavier trailers if the total weight of vehicle and trailer isn’t more than 3,500kg. The fully loaded trailer can’t weigh more than the unladen vehicle.

?? Should be able too. perhaps theres an insurance issue but shouldn't be as vehicle insurers arnt allowed to discriminate against diabetics, there happy as long as dvla are aware. may be different for work purposes though?

No reason why you can't drive van. Your work colleague may have other reasons why he can't drive, eyesight, hypo's etc. Ultimately, if you have notified DVLA ( if you have to ) and you hold a license for the vehicle, then why shouldn't you be allowed ? DVLA rules have changed a few times, your co-worker may not be aware of most recent guidelines.
