Driving with Diabetes

Things are quiet at the moment. Work is a difficult situation as there are other circumstances that make making the employer aware of the situation awkward. But working with the Diabetic clinic and my own motivation to get this sorted it could be as little as 4 weeks or as long as 16weeks to prove that my awareness has returned What's not helping is I have recently been in hospital for viral bronchitis and the meds to treat this are basically a shed load of steroids that are increasing my BS massively (21) this morning. But my target is between 8 & 12 to build up the bodies awareness of getting to 5 and being highlighted by whatever symptoms of a hypo. Because of the other issues at the work place I don't feel comfortable asking for any adjustment to the working pattern / day so really not sure how this can be broached with them

I empathise with you @PMJ .

Not all employers are generous in their understanding. & only you can judge the position at your place of work..

I've only experienced positive bias..? I was one called into my old Operations manager's office & offered the chance to be trained up driving HGVs & obtaining an entitlement.. Lol, I had to respectfully put him straight. He still wouldn't have it. Yep, I felt bad I'd seriously let the guy down...

I appreciate the dilemmas in doing the "right thing!"

Steroids are horrid, aren't they - hope you recover soon! At least you are having an enforced high sugars time - had to look for a silver lining.

Good read thinking just that when reading, and kids with phones
