No, not until your levels are above 5.
 
It depends if T1 or T2 and if insulin dependent or not

If you take insulin then you must be above 5mmol/l

If you're diet controlled etc then you can drive

DVLA yes, insurance not always! I tried to tell my insurance and they didnt care. Said it doesn't affect the policy provided I follow DVLA guidelines
 
Ideally, bg levels should be 5mmol and going upwards.... not 5mmol and going downwards.

Always, always have some sweets that are easy to eat and don't need to be unwrapped somewhere within easy reach of a driving wheel so that if someone does start feel a bit low they can eat some sweets or glucose tabs and venture to pull over somewhere to recover.
