Type 2 Drs not helpful

I stopped my Metaformin as I had bad side effects. I'm controlling my blood sugar with L.C.H.F diet and that OK but , struggling to loose weight. My bloods level at 7/8 my nurse very happy with it as it was 20/25. But I know and she accepts my weight is the cause of my diabeties. I'm 63 quite fit. But after a year of not loosing weight I asked for VICTOZA. This is because I'm always Hungary and can do this alone!!!! I've read 3 indepth books decided this was what was needed to help. And you guessed my doctor is very adverse to prescribing this.
Has anyone else had this problem? I feel I've done all I can on my own. Just need bit help.

I think to loose weight is not their cause to prescribe it... but I do understand you, here in denmark there are very strict rules for how an when doctors can prescribe certain kinds of meds, in what order and to which degree of serverity, I dont know about UK, but here it is not only the doctors deciding, also the price matters a lot.
Could you maybe copi the arguments you have read for using excactly that kind of medicine for problems like yours and show this to your GP
 
Hi. Were you on the Slow Release (SR) version of Metformin which is much kinder? Metformin is the first drug of choice if overweight. Byetta does have side effects so Metformin plus a low carb diet is the best way forward if possible. BTW, HF means Higher Fat not High Fat. Apart form keeping the carbs way down you may want to put some control on the fats.
 
I am on metformin and vixtoza. Have been on victoza for 11 months. The first 3 weeks, it made me feel constantly full but that soon wore off. I was told it was a miracle drug and that i wouls lose stones in weight. To be honest, in that 11 months my weight lose is slow compared to what the doctor said. I gave over the past 5 years, to have lost 7 stone. But i have put that down to me changing the way i eat and in the last 8 weeks have cut my portion sizes in half. But in that 8 weeks, i have only lost 9lb. Rhe only thing i can say about the victoza, is that my blood sugar levels hace come down alot
 
I agree with @Daibell - if you are on LCHF you probably need to watch the fats as they can be pretty calorific. In general if you're not losing weight, it means you're eating sufficient to maintain it, so to lose some you'll need to eat a bit less, which probably means reducing fat consumption. Look at the low carb nutritional calculator here http://www.phlaunt.com/diabetes/DietMakeupCalc.php which can help you make adjustments to your carbs/protein/fats proportions so that you should start losing some weight.
