Dry and cracked skin on feet

Hello

I have dry and cracked skin on my feet. I had a fear of diabetes type 2 a couple of years ago as was having blurred vision and one low sugar reading. However it seems it was more to do with anxiety. However I have had the blurred vision return and have cracked skin on my feet. I have read it can be to do with diabetes. I have no other symptoms however such as thirst, tiredness,
tingling in hands thrush, I am not overweight. Have occasional urgency to pass urine but not frequent which I put down to age although it seems it is also anxiety as I can sense the tension around the lower areas and if I relax it often goes.

I have read that cracked skin can be caused by faulty nerve transmission blocking oil production
on the feet. If this happens would there be any other sensations in the feet or legs. I have no other sensations. If this is a part of diabetes at what stage would someone be likely to experience
dry and cracked feet .

Thank you

And thanks for all the help and support you give to people.

Dry feet can be a symptom of Diabetes (I have them), but I don't think it is in your case. You mention having low blood sugar once, diabetics have high blood sugar at diagnosis.

There are some good over the counter moisturisers generally and for feet - I use Palmers cocoa butter.

If you are really worried about your feet, go and visit your GP and have them looked at and ask to be tested for diabetes, we are not doctors and can only tell you our experience. You can also go to Lloyds chemist and they will do a finger prick blood test.

Stop worrying about Diabetes, but if it turns out you are diabetic, then come back and ask any questions.

hi
I use flexitol foot balm and i wear cotton socks after i have put it on. If your still worried go see your GP.

I've had dry skin all my life, and it used to be bad on my feet so no it doesn't have to be a sign of diabetes. I use 'CCS' Foot Care Cream, and it works like magic! My DN said I have the softest feet she's ever seen. Lol.

Castor oil and Mink oil. Available on eBay. It's a hair treatment for dry frizzy hair, but it works brilliantly for dry cracked skin! Don't put your socks back on until it has soaked in or put it on and sleep in clean socks, soft skin in the morning. My sister and I really like this, it even smells nice.

Is mink oil really from mink I cant think of this smelling good considering what mink smells like

It's available on prescription or you can buy it in most pharmacies. It doesn't really have a smell but is by far the best skin moisturiser for feet.

Thanks nigel , will look into this.
Need something good for my tootsies ! :D
They deserve the good stuff after all they carry me around all my life!
Anna.

I hate to say this but its the sebaceous oil from mink skins. Yuck. Comes from China - says it all. The castor oil improves the smell no end. (Bernstein recommends mink oil to his patients)

On the other hand CCS cream contains urea, and thats P. So you pays your money and you takes your choice :)
