Am seeing dentist very soonPerhaps have a chat to your dentist s/he would hopefully be able to point you in the right direction.
I am told there is no need for me to test as my HbA1c is always within range at my diabetic reviewsWhen my sugar levels were high I had a very bad dry mouth .. once they got back into the normal sugar range it stopped.. What are you blood sugars reading for the last few weeks ?
Testing is the only way you will know if what your eating is giving you high blood sugars. The HbA1c is an average of the last three months and not showing you whats happing on a meal to meal sugar rise. I find the T2 sugar numbers the Dr will use are to high for me and I now stay in the non diabetic range of blood sugar using diet alone. When I was first diagnosed I followed the Drs advice .. and became rather unwell..now I manage my own diabetes with my own meter and change of diet against the recommendation of my outdated medical team. Now my bs are staying in the normal range I no longer have a dry mouth.I am told there is no need for me to test as my HbA1c is always within range at my diabetic reviews
You may find that the bedtime test readings of 7 -8 is a little high if your T2. watch the fruit as most will contain high sugar. What are your before and 2hr after eating bs numbers ?This is my first time on here. I did not know about the B12 deficiency but now I will get it tested as my next review is nearly due.
No matter what I have tried I always have a dry mouth and it seems to get worse over the day. My doc is happy for me to do tests over the day as I tend to ne hypo in the morning and then by bedtime my tests are reading on average 7 -8.
My aunt who is type 2 also has the same problem as me with regards to a dry mouth but we tend to keep a packet of 'sugar free' polo mints handy. I have changed my diet and have cut out a lot of carbs and have more fruit and veg during the day but this has not made any difference. Will have to see what my next hbA1c reading is, and have a word with my nurse again to see if she can suggest something to stop the dry mouth syndrome
My GP and Diabetic nurse insist I don't need to test as I only take 1 Metformin daily and my 6 monthly Hba1c test always shows I am within recommended limits ( my most recent was 6.6).When my sugar levels were high I had a very bad dry mouth .. once they got back into the normal sugar range it stopped.. What are you blood sugars reading for the last few weeks ?
Many thanks for that info. I will mention this when I see my dentist in a few weeksShrimp, although I am on different meds, I was diagnosed with burning mouth syndrome, only by seeing my dentist and then a dental consultant at the hospital. They have given me both a new toothpaste called bio extra and a bio extra mouthwash. This is given on prescription and helps me immensely. Good luck
