DUK diet, low carb & music

4 years ago, after following the DUK diet, muscle pains were ending my active life, including tennis, so I joined 2 choirs.

Norwood Green Choral Soc. sing religious & popular classical music. Our latest concert included Vivaldi's "Gloria" which is on Radio 3 at this moment. Next concert will include G & S "Trial by Jury."
I am very happy that I can now sing the sort of music I thought I could only listen to.

The other choir is the local Heston Community Centre "Singing for fun" aka "Caroliners." We entertain local gatherings -Old people's groups & homes, a respite centre, etc, with popular songs from the shows. We are entertaining the Community Centre at its Jubilee celebration.

BUT
Low carb restored my health, so I resumed my tennis - & have the choirs as well.
 
I sang as a teen, and was a member of a youth opera. I'd love to join a choir now, but tinnitus has scuppered my pitch.

In my case my pitch was scuppered by a complete lack of vocal ability and the fact that I am tone deaf.

Mrs Borofergie sings with the Crouch End Festival Chorus, which is a semi-pro choir from North London. They're actually a classical choir, but they get roped in lots of funky contemporary engagements:

I was turned down for the choir in primary school - what kid can't sing - me!

haven't improved - if i sing upstairs, hubby will shout up to check i'm i've not hurt myself.

Envy people their good voices - sing loud those who don't get the cat's wailing

I didn't ever apply for choirs as I was a sporty child, the idea of standing still and singing was too much, I had to be on the go from morning until night. I wouldn't have got in even if I did audition, I couldn't carry a tune in a bucket!
 
I had the voice of an angel until my voice broke and I then sounded as bad as a Drunken 'Barney Gumble' from the Simpsons! D'oh!
 
I miss singing but still love music and waste hours on youtube and downloading songs , it's a good hobby so no wonder you feel better
 
Those links with Ray Davies are very good. I don't think we will get to Glastonbury. I like songs I can sing along with.
