I am moving all my dvds out of their boxes into a folder, to save space. Now my dilemma is do I put them in the folder a-z or in genres like romcom and horror?

Definatley A-Z.
Some films don't fit in one specific genre category so it could get confusing if you try to do it that way.
To use your example of romcom or horror, where would you put Shaun of the Dead? Unless you have a seperate category for zom-rom-com which I believe is how Simon Peg described it.
If you want to watch something and can't remember the name of it... that's where the internet comes in. I remember before the days of the internet trawling video shops with a friend who wanted to find 'that film where Clarence gets his wings' for her mum. Would've been a whole lot easier if we'd had Google!
