DVLA and Type 2 Diabetes

I was first diagnosed in 1999 and as advised I informed both DVLA and my car insurance company. DVLA sent me a letter advising what I could and couldn't do and what I was entitled to drive. Because I am intolerant to Metformin I was the prescribed Lantus Insulin in January 2003 and again advised both DVLA and my car insurance company. As I didn't receive any further communication from DVLA I have assumed all is ok, but having read "Fairer rules for drivers" on the Diabetic website am I to assume that DVLA should have sent some kind of medical questionaire for me to complete? I am now 68 years old, have never had any kind of attack, and have had a clean driving licence since I was 17. What should I do as I will be 70 in 2 years time.Would welcome some advice, Bam Bam

If you are on insulin, you need to inform DVLA. If your diabetes is well controlled, you should be ok but they will write to your doc and there will be paperwork. Good luck.
