I’m insulin dependent therefore have a medical licence, this was due for renewal last August. My GP reported back to DVLA that my HbA1c was high and I hadn’t attended my yearly review the last few times (Covid kind off got in the way). DVLA then revoked my licence, 3 months later I do another HbA1c which comes back slightly raised, sent information to DVLA, who took 3 months to get back to me saying I need a medical, I’ve no idea why, this is in 2 weeks with my GP. Can anyone advise me what happens? I’ve googled it but I can’t find anything specific apart from if you’ve been disqualified for drink driving etc. This process with DVLA has been going on since May 2023 and I fear will go on for much longer, I’ve never had difficulty renewing my medical licence before, has anyone experienced their process for renewal?

This is odd.. and I would question it.. dvla will not care about high hba1c

And unless you have HGV they are not really worried about the medicals.. infact car drivers typically self certify

So you need to provide us more details.. is this car or HGV?

If it was hgv or you had provisional hgv they may have just revoked those privileges have you checked online to see what you driving privileges are?

Another reason you could have had a problem would be if you said you don’t do blood tests prior to driving or are not hypo aware
