Hi all,

Rare opportunity to meet up with a family GP who actually understands metabolism!

Our meetup group is meeting for the 2nd time. We have managed to secure GP Dr Cat Harrison to come and lead the session. She is a GP at a practice in Bassetlaw district which has a number of low carb GPs!

She's going to take us through:

• What advice she gives pre-diabetes patients regarding sugar consumption

• The conflicts GPs face in helping patients manage safe changes to their diet

• National Government Guidance and how this compares to the clinical guidance she gives out

• Why diet and nutrition is is a contentious subject in healthcare provision

• Her advice on helping people decide which way to eat and live their life

Excellent. Do any of you guys have any ideas about how we can scale this to get the message out to more people? Obviously budgets are none existent and we are relying on people being helpful (which they are) and bringing friends/colleagues etc. We had about 15 to the last event but our room holds 50!

Anything in Suffolk, Norfolk, Essex or Cambridgeshire?

Not that I'm aware of. We've got a delegation coming from Low Carb Skipton (Yorkshire) to our next meeting and there's also a group in Warwickshire too that I know of.

Where does is Warwickshire group based?

Yes I would be happy to meet up and say hello you can't miss me as I look like my previous avatar on here a rather weird looking balding old guy. :)

@JohnEGreen I can never find my OH when shopping because old guys all look the same. I have always said I am short, fat and ugly but now I'm not fat. Have attached a very rare picture of me taken in April this year..

@carol43 Hi good fun wasn't it. Was nice to meet you and your OH and Cat's talk was interesting. I will definataly be going to the next one if possible. Hope you both got home safe and well.

John

@JohnEGreen Nice to met with you both. I found it quite interesting but I wish she hadn't gone on so long about her running. I am definitely going to make some of those blueberry muffins. I don't think I will be going again, it is a bit far and we missed our turning on the M1 because of the road works so took a while to get home again. The lady that was supposed to be coming this afternoon hasn't turned up.
