Hello All,

Hope we are all well.

For the 1st time in a while I have been out for a meal.

Before meal my BS were 4.0% which i was impressed about (Also I felt fine as well, as I have never had a hypo, that I know about)

2 hours and 15mins after meal my BS they where 6.3% - was a little gutted as that is no were near what I was before meal.

What I had was a roast dinner in the pub, I had all veg, BUT no potatoes, a little gravy, 1 small Yorkshire pud and 1 Diet coke.

As you know I am type 2, dont take any meds ect.

Any views.

Cheers

Hi, Simply_h

I wouldn't worry - 6.3 is still well within recommended levels for Type 2 (less than 8.5 2 hours after a meal). Maybe you had something that affected your blood glucose levels very slowly, so you were still coming down when you tested.

You had carbs in the Yorkshire pud and the gravy; part of the meat would probably still be turning into glucose - that happens quite slowly. What were the veg? Are you absolutely sure it was a diet coke?

But honestly - don't worry!

Very odd simply-h as your previous thread you stated that your bg was much lower after a meal of 2 battered fish, 1 sausage and mushy peas! :?

It could well be what Viv says that the Yorkshire, gravy and veg might have been quite carby without you knowing, but that said there are numerous other explanations why bg rises (stress of eating out after a long period of absence such as you said) but 6.3 isn't too bad so don't beat yourself up! :)
