Eating and Burning Fat

Is it the case that the body burns dietary fat prior to body fat?
Yes. dietary fat is already in the blood stream when the cells want energy, so it will be grabbed as it passes by and used as required. If not needed at that time, then insulin acts to store it in the fat cells, where it waits until the blood levels become low, at which point the hormones switch to turn on getting fat out of storage to boost the blood levels. So local availability wins.

Not all dietary fat gets into the bloodstream and then has to be exercised away - first of all not all fat is digested - unlike sugars, fats are not all absorbed - and lipids are released into the gut to aid digestion, so just because you ingest X amount of fat you don't have to burn through that amount before beginning to use body fat.
