People that can't listen to other people's opinions.
People that can't say sorry.
Who does this for each meal?

I think that if you make a point of only eating at a table for all meals that you don't pig out in between.

Yes. I do this too, it stops me from wanting to snack.

I have fat obese friends that pig all the time.. Not diabetic. Their kids too..

I just find eating habits intersting...

No I don't snack in between (although used to eat all sorts at work but now turn it all down) and yes I was dragged up to eat at a table

I don't snack in between because I was 6 stone over weight and still got 2 to go. I have had to completely change my badly learnt behaviours as an adult.

I eat at a table.. Other friends and their kids eat at table.. They don't do drive by mcdonalds. My obese friends and their kids eaton sofaand eat take aways 6/7 days a week.

I took the 2children to a safari day out recently. Mother packeda picnic for the kids.... Crisps and some dunkin cheese things... That was it....

They ate my cucumber and ham sandwiches and strwaberrys and cream... Not their own food...

The kids come to us and eat at a table and garden with me all day without ****...

It just interests me... Does eating at a table with knife and forks make a difference for non diabetics as well as us d's?

I was brought up without snacks as in the sixties you were supposed to eat at meal time and not spoil your appetite with snacks. I did get a mid afternoon glass of milk and a sandwich when I got home from school but that was it. The meals were substantial and obesity was rare, certainly in my very diabetic family.

For me, the main point with living together is to share meals. Long, substantial, sustaining meals. At table.

So agree, I've started to think I was abnormal recently!! So glad to read your posting totto..

Nothing better than sitting at a table to eat. I think my friends (neighbour kids) do actually enjoy this...

We always eat together, at the table. We always have done. It's also when we discuss "stuff".

We don't snack, ever. I have been having some peanuts in addition to my lunch most days these days, in an effort to halt weight loss, albeit fairly slow weight loss. It feels alien, as I'm not hungry when I have them, but they are pretty high calorie.

....if you're abnormal donnellydogs then I am too....eat with a plate on my lap when I'm on my own but if family are here then we eat at the table, its a different sort of atmosphere, easy to chat and we all enjoy it....

......I find food very interesting too like you said....I didn't before I was diagnosed, took it all for granted, but I could bore for England now on it....so I usually just shut up....;)

My other friend brought her 3 yr old round over easter... She brought with her an easter biscuit for the child. She would only eat it at the table, even asking for a plate!! She made me feel normal for a few minutes!!

I just look at other peoples eating habits and am now really at the pint of feeling odd. Even when by myself I eat at the table.. (Bit lonely talking to myself when OH on late shift for 4 weeks!!) but it does just make me wonder whether the table eating instilled in me as a kid has meant a significant part unwittingly to me not snacking in between..

Having a partner who works shifts makes it very difficult. I work shifts, try to eat meals with my wife. Was difficult before but more so now that I can't eat just anything.

We eat at the table 4 or 5 days a week, usually midweek. We have both been working all day and it's our time to if ore technology and talk to each other!

Other days we still have home cooked meals, but we choose to enjoy it in front of a film.

Snacking between meals is a habit I picked up as an adult, university mostly. Since starting in "the real world" nearly 2 years ago I've really tried to reign in my snacking. Or at least opt for healthy things like nuts and fruit
