I work away alot and spend nights in hotels, does anyone kno if there is a guide as to what is best for Diabetics when eating out, as most restaurants and hotels don't seem to have healthier options?

Mat,

Ask them to make you something suitable if its not on the menu, most establishments should oblige and make up a healthy alternative suitable to your dietary needs.

I have to travel for my work too and generally try to keep food simple: recognisable items minus the sauce for example; as I may not be obvious what it contains and what it will do to your BG.

Breakfast buffet usually lets you pick and choose for yourself or order an omlette. Salads with dressings on the side, steamed veg, grilled fish, chicken or steak. I also hit the local shops for snacks like raw nuts.

Most places I find very accommodating for their customers needs.
