Hi

I've always been quite sensitive to plasters/dressings especially the plasticky ones like the ones they use on an iv cannula in hospital

My pump cannula sites have always been a but itchy when I change them (always day 3 at the latest).

However, my last two I've had a nasty eczema type rash pop up after taking them out :(

Not sure if it's because of the hot weather and sweating etc or if I'm becoming increasingly allergic to the cannula dressing

Has anyone else had this? I've tried using cavilon barrier spray but didn't make any difference

Here's a lovely photo of my white belly to show you what I'm mean

I get itchy sites occasionally. For me, I do think,it's to do with the hot weather or getting hot.

I used to,get them more on my tummy so I presume it's to do with the senditvity of the skin too. I don't use my tummy any more and they have reduced a lot.

What I did is resist touching them if they were itchy; if they were really itchy, I moved my site. I let my skin cool down after a shower before inserting a cannula, and if I remove one and see any kind of rash, I bathe it with tepid water, pat it dry and, if needed, sometimes take an antihistamine. Usually they ease quickly then.

What sets are you using?
