needles, bloods sampling, infact most medical stuff which usually result in panic/anxienty attacks :(
If losing a fair bit of blood can that make sugar levels go low?

Been struggling today keeping sugars going low 85g carbs including lunch with just 2 units novarapid

Any unusual physical happening can have an impact on your blood glucose.

What happened?

not been that active last 24 hours. Day prior 40 lengths swim alongside mowed lawn. That's not unusual as been swimming every few days for a wee bit. I've been constipated for a few days so cut cocodomal and was taking senna to help with that. When did goto loo fair bit of blood couple of days ago, and lot more before lunchtime can't think of any other change from the norm.

Have been trying to chase up endoscopy appt. Really wish that was dealt with when was admitted into hospital end of Jan when was diagnosed as diabetic hba1c 162 loss of blood was the main reason I went through a&e.

Hei Grant, hope things are better for you this morning. Can see you don’t like medics, especially ones brandishing needles at you.. but I think losing blood needs to be investigated ASAP. Have you got a friend or family member can go with you to an A&E or whatever the local emergency care department is.
Maybe better to be there on a Saturday morning , rather than Saturday evening…. Coupled with the low blood sugars… certainly needs investigating.
Was your blood loss not properly investigated in January?
Once they know you are T1D you should hopefully be bumped up the queue a bit.. take snacks! Good luck!

I've called dsn yesterday and been trying to chase up endoscope appt. last one was cancelled i wanted (after speaking to consultant) with travel time and enema to be taken as diabetic needed to be done first on list due to no food either that morning... would of ment 6am ferry to get there by 8:30am (first slot) enema to be taken 2 hours prior, how they expect you to travel after taking that i have litterly no idea, alongside not supposed to eat anything, consultant agreded and said they'd take me in night before and change the proceedure to them still waiting on call/letter for the new appt I am trying to deal with it. I've had bleeding from that area for 3+ years on and off, end of january i had enough which finally made me goto a&e over it. Consultant said the bleeding maybe from damage from DKA alongside the amount of NSAIDS for backpain pregablin reduced from 600mg a day to 300 at night 150morning, , co-codomal almost completely cut 30/500's only taking 1 when absolutely necessary as believe that was what caused the initial constipation (no loo for full week) disagreeing with pain clinic (waiting on double lumber fusion) have spondylothesis they want me to take 8x day and back on 300/300 pregablin. Meds massively reduced and tried to get a lot more active, it was actually a LOT better just a few spots of bloods here and there after was discharged, maybe was partially dehydated or something, IVF etc seemed to help a lot alongside antibiotics (which i've not had for around a month now) seems to of come back with avengance over the last few days.

not any better this morning will see how am later on in the day and maybe go back to the 'big hospistal', the one in my area is absolutely useless glorified a&e any 'real issues' they tend to send you elsewhere.

It’s good the consultant understood your travel issues and is trying to fix an overnight and early morning appointment for you. I too live a ferry ride away from the hospital, or a 10 minute air ambulance ride in extremis!
Had to have a colonoscopy a few years ago, which is restricted diet for a week, then laxative liquids… turned up about 2 hours before the evening appointment, as I was frightened of being stranded somewhere without a loo. Had a repeat procedure last year and I was much less anxious, as by then I’d been diagnosed T1 D, using sensors and could see what my blood sugars were up to when not eating.
Make sure you keep hydrated.
Am loath to say it may be your sensor playing up giving the low readings, as to check means finger sticking.
Hope you soon get sorted.

It's marked In hospital notes for likely future colonoscopy half expecting that to happen thanks.

Doing same today. Have verified with finger prick which reads a little higher not a lot in in last 24 hours. New sensor 3 days ago. Frequently in past sensor appears to read lot lower

Very last loo just now just a little blood. No straining nor sore with pressure hopefully constipation cleared up. Think might need to seriously consider if taking what supposed to in pain meds will need take senna regardless if issue going or not guessing small tear or something. was speaking to relative earlier whom reminded me got some polyps removed ages ago perhaps similar back. Going to try reducing long acting by another couple units tomorrow still will speak to Dr and try DSN Monday if issue returns with lots blood will likely get someone look after daughter and goto a&e in hospital where diabetic consultant is based if they doing bloods asking for c-peptide test maybe well worth it alongside full bloods. Have some diazapan and temazepan left alongside Elma. Have emailed dsn today they'll probably think I'm pestering them really think needs tended to. Stomach still sore making noises all day

I cannot take NSAIDs @grantg.They cause stomach and digestive tract bleeding. Depending where the bleeding is my poop can be black or bloody if much lower down my digestive tract. I have to wear a red hospital band on my wrist (Canada) if in hospital. You can get specially coated pain killers that helps to prevent the bleeding from the NSAIDs or you can be put on PPI's. That has been my experience. I have had both. I was tested for Crohns disease and ulcerative colitis, both negative. As it turned out I have peptic ulcer disease plus coeliac disease as well. I Hope you get answers soon.

cheers very much.
been on co-codomal 30/500's 8x day for years pregablin for around a year alongside diclofenac sodium, hospistal had a fit over the last drug and immediately told me to stop that, should of never been issued with pr bleed apparently, was on omeprazole which is supposed to protect stomach, actually i'm unsure why that was removed from repeat prescription list shortly after stopped the diclofenac.

Blood is 100% fresh as bright red always. thats what is leaning me towards thinking a possible tear

I really hope they find out quickly, fresh blood is scary. It's obviously much lower down your digestive tract else it would be very dark from the digestive process. Keep us posted @grantg , wishing you.

tbh i thought brightred would be less scary than deep red/darker/black. more likely to find cause as further down wont require camera to go as far up I'd of thought anyway. tbh i'd prefer to be able to swallow a camera rather than the endoscope recall it being very painful around 17 years ago. either that or knocked out would be prefered. healed itself back then or possibly recall slightly off as didn't remember polyps removal. Current pr bleed +3 years off and on. GP been aware and tried several times for bloods to no avail (my fault entirely) also they suggsested endoscope just over a year ago i refused to be refered back then, my late mum was hospistaled and before that spent a lot of time helping to look after her. Reraised the issue with bloods in stools/bleeding fairly heavy around 5-6 months prior to being admitted into hospistal. I've pretty much put my own health aside for several years helping other family members bad idea i do realise need to look after yourself to be able to assist others has taken me a long time to know that.
