Effects of colds on blood sugar

hi everyone,

i currently have a cold, until now my blood sugars been normal. But today it has risen from 4.8 at 8pm to 12.4 now and i haven't eaten since 5:30 so seems late for a spike. I've tested for ketones and they're at 0.3 which is higher than normal for me, was just wondering if any of you had experienced the same or what you would do.

Hi Amy. I have also noticed that when I am sick my blood sugars spike. My insulin intake almost doubles. It's because your body is trying to fight the infection. Just try to test your sugars more often when ill to try and keep on top of things.

Thanks a lot, this is my first time being ill with diabetes and got a bit worried, will definitely keep my eye on things :)
