Are there any indications that drugs either directly related to diabetes or related ailments can have an effect on your personality?
I'm on Gliclazide, Metformin for the diabetes, Simvistatin for cholesterol and Losartan / Indapamide for blood pressure. Friends have indicated that in recent months they have noticed that I am less tolerant and more abrupt that I had ever been previously and discussion moved to whether with the concontion of drugs I was on could have an impact.

Thoughts any one?

Jeremy

I was on Ramipril for blood pressure which made me more tired than I usually am. As a result I felt less tolerant of others, particularly children and I didn't feel like "joining in".

Mind you it does say so on the pill box paper so I should have expected it.

Sadly a lot of meds can cause mood changes , also having a long term condition can

I must try reading the labels :).....thanks

As posted on another thread, Pravastatin made me short tempered and irritable.

Statins are apparently well known for mood changes.

COS IT JUST BLOODY DOES, OK!

I think low blood sugars can cause mood swings (maybe high ones too !) My twin sister is type 1 and when her BS are low she`s quite moody and doesn`t want to talk much !

Why are we temperamental?

Because all the sweetness has leached out of our hearts and into our blood. Actually since bringing my BG levels down I have been calmer and less irritable. Can't answer for the drugs as I was only on met for a month
