started low carb on saturday with good results so far but one thing is bothering me, i seem to be eating an awful lot of eggs, is this a problem and if so how many are recommended daily?

As many as you like.

I'm unaware of any creditable study that succeeds in linking eggs with increased cholesterol (dietary cholesterol has very little impact on serum cholesterol), and eggs are wee power houses of nutrition.

You may find that your egg consumption evens out after a while.

Love them as I do, I can't enjoy more than 5 or 6 week without a binding effect and a sulphurous, er... backlash.

I'm not a real egg lover but generally have about the same as Brunneria, though mine are mostly used in baking, e.g. 1 minute muffins.

I don't think it particularly matters how many you eat as long as they're part of a varied diet.

I go through at least a dozen in week in omelettes and fried eggs with bacon or gammon.

I think I'm staying under 10 large eggs a week.

A little shopping for other convenient sources of protein and fat that I like are 1 - 1 1/2 oz nuts; or 1/2 - 1 avocado; or sliced green and red peppers with 1 - 2 tablespoons FAGE 2% unsweetened yogurt; or some vegetables such as brussell sprouts (which are both high in protein and filling), sliced and pan fried in 1 - 2 tablespoons of butter. If you steam them a bit at first then remove the lid to let them caramelize a little on each side, they taste like they've been roasted. Yum. I occasionally have these for breakfast, but I like bitter vegetables.

If you haven't already, you can get a blood lipid profile that includes triglycerides, HDL, LDL, and cholesterol now, then again in 3 - 6 months to see if your numbers are improving. I did this 1 week into the diet, and my doctor is going to repeat it in 3 months. The good news is that many people find that the LCHF diet improves all of their lab results. And I just learned yesterday by reading this article and it's comments that you're far more likely to develop gallstones on a low fat diet. http://www.proteinpower.com/drmike/low-carb-diets/get-rid-gallstones-without-surgery/ :)

get through about 15 a week coz thats my only low carb breakfast option, cant have yoghurt in the morning

I eat two a day, and am convinced that I need not fear them . And yes, I have CVD...heart attack and later bypass surgery.

I eat plenty of eggs, it's the least I can do after my 4 lovely hens have gone to the trouble to lay them for me :)

I've had 4 today. I'm going to try them poached on the flax seed bread/muffin....

sean , the size of some of the supermarket eggs i doubt the hens would even notice that they laid them

I love eggs and eat three a week, any more than that I get hives,it took about six months to find what was causing the swollen red welts on my body.
